What does Aurora inverter error E031 mean?
In the ABB/Power-One product manual for this Aurora inverter family, E031 is an internal error: the inverter has measured voltage at the output relay outside the permitted range. That identifies an inverter-side fault condition, but it does not by itself prove which internal component failed. We confirm the exact model, verify the external AC supply and DC array inputs, follow the proper restart procedure and document whether the code returns before recommending repair or compatible replacement.
Can an older Aurora inverter keep operating with E031?
A persistent E031 condition can prevent normal production because the inverter cannot complete its output-relay checks and connect normally. On equipment that has already operated for many years, a recurring internal fault is a reason to compare manufacturer support, repair feasibility and compatible replacement—not a reason to guess from the code alone.
Was the inverter replaced during this Palos Verdes Estates visit?
No. This video documents the service-call diagnosis, including the paired-inverter comparison, AC and DC checks and controlled restart. Replacement or compatibility work is a separate approved scope.
Do you service older Aurora and Power-One solar inverters?
We evaluate legacy Aurora and Power-One systems, document the installed model and electrical conditions, and develop a repair, manufacturer-support or compatible replacement path based on the actual equipment and array configuration.
