Dedicated circuit installation

New appliance needs its own electrical circuit?

Repeated trips may mean too many loads share a circuit, or that the equipment or wiring has a fault. We verify the load, panel capacity, route and required protection before proposing a dedicated circuit.

How we can help

Common reasons customers call

  • Microwave or kitchen-appliance circuits
  • Tankless water-heater power circuits
  • Laundry, refrigerator or garage equipment
  • Air-conditioning or heating circuits
  • New breakers and circuit labeling
  • AFCI/GFCI protection as applicable

Clear process

What happens next

  1. 01Review equipment nameplate and use
  2. 02Evaluate panel and available capacity
  3. 03Choose routing and protective device
  4. 04Install the approved circuit
  5. 05Test voltage, protection and load

Dedicated 20-Amp Circuit for a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater

This Rinnai tankless water heater still required dependable 120-volt power for its controls and operation. The documented installation shows a new dedicated 20-amp branch circuit using #12 copper conductors, GFCI protection where applicable and final electrical testing instead of sharing an existing appliance circuit.

Breaker Keeps Tripping: Overloaded Circuit Diagnosis

The breaker kept tripping when multiple loads were in use. We traced the affected circuit, found that it was carrying more than it should and planned the kitchen and air-conditioning loads around properly separated circuits. The video shows the symptom and field diagnosis.

Field experience

Separate loads for a reason, not simply to add breakers.

Our Rinnai tankless-water-heater project documents a dedicated 20-amp circuit from panel to equipment, while our Boyle Heights investigation shows what can happen when too many loads share a branch circuit.
